Projects – Airports
 
YEI Engineers has been providing design expertise to airport clients for 25 years. Services include electrical, mechanical and plumbing design, concept utility plans, utility systems, evaluation for airport facilities and utility distribution systems.
 
Oakland International Airport, Terminal 2 Expansion (T2X)
  YEI provided complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing which included electrical, lighting, lighting control, emergency generator, HVAC and plumbing systems and Direct Digital Control System for the new 95,000SF Concourse Building with six airline gates. The project was recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council as the first passenger terminal in the United States to be awarded with the "Silver" LEED certification.
 
Oakland International Airport, Terminal 2 Renovation (T2R)
  Project covered new areas including three carousel baggage claim areas, security queuing area, ticketing area, outbound baggage facility, Skycap area, telecom IDF and additional restrooms. Work included major renovation work of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, Direct Digital Control System, new chilled and heating hot water pumping system, domestic boiler system and plumbing system for new restroom. Design consists of energy efficient measures that exceeded Title 24 requirements and application for Leadership in Energy and Environmental (LEED) Design.
 
Oakland International Airport, Northfield Hangars 1 - 5
  For Hangars 1 – 5, YEI performed design to relocate existing underground electrical and communication ductbanks and related site work. Design included new apron lighting, security gate power and controls.
 
Oakland International Airport, Rehabilitation of Taxiways D and J
  YEI identified existing taxiway/runway edgelights, cables, conduits, utility and Airside Guidance Signs for relocation and signage replacement.
 
Oakland International Airport – Northfield Airfield Lighting Vault
  For proposed new Airfield Lighting Facility, YEI performed Substation and Power Distribution Study to determine the required upgrades and improvements to the existing 12kV equipment, duct bank, cabling and interface with existing airfield related equipment and systems.
 
Oakland International Airport – Terminal 2
  YEI provided the mechanical design services for the Oakland International Airport Explosion Detection System (EDS) Project which consisted of ventilation and condensate systems for the EDS machines, HVAC system for the automatic conveyor room and monitoring room and heating and ventilating system for the baggage carousel area.
 
San Francisco International Airport – Central Plant
  As part of Airport Energy Efficiency Planning Project, provided preliminary design of a thermal energy chilled water storage (TES) system utilizing a 2.9 million gallon thermal energy storage tank and connection to the existing chilled water distribution loop system. In addition, prepared construction bid documents for the boiler replacement project replacing four boilers to larger capacity.
 
San Francisco International Airport - West Cargo Facility
  YEI provided mechanical conceptual design report and LEED requirements for the SFIA West Cargo Facility. The West Cargo Facility has 138,000 square feet of cargo area and approximately 25,000 square feet of office/support area. The mechanical included HVAC, plumbing and fire protection for the common areas and design/build criteria for the tenant spaces.
 
San Francisco International Airport - Lighting Survey
  As part of the Clean Energy Clean Air Program, the Lighting Survey was a preliminary energy audit for various facilities that included terminals, parking garages, car rental center, "Air Train" stations and the central plant. Conducted site walk-through to collect lighting data including fixture types, quantities of fixtures, lighting controls, and hours of use, availability of daylight, review of lighting drawings, data entry, analysis and recommended lighting improvement measures.
 
Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport
  Performed mechanical peer review and code analysis for seven story Consolidated Rental Car Garage consisting of the Customer Service Building and three quick-turn-around facilities. YEI initially provided a review for the 30% submittal and subsequently the 65%, 95% and 100% completion levels.
 
Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, California
  YEI provided electrical, mechanical, fire alarm and fire protection design to renovate the existing 14,500 SF single-story building to a new Facility. Energy efficient design was implemented to provide separate systems for the office areas and training/technical facility areas and also utilized economizers, variable frequency drives, automatic wet sprinkler system, variable air volume system, direct digital controls, T8 fluorescent lights and occupancy sensors.
 
Beale Air Force Base, California
  YEI provided 6,800 SF of tenant improvement services for existing base building. Space in the building was being reconfigured requiring redundancy power and an upgraded HVAC system.
