Oakland International Airport – Terminal 2 Expansion

The expansion project consisted of an entirely new 95,000 SF Concourse Building which includes six airline gates, concession areas, dining area, restroom facilities, and Main Distribution Facility. YEI provided electrical and mechanical design services which included: medium voltage distribution, lighting, lighting control, power distribution, emergency generator, HVAC and plumbing systems, and Direct Digital Control System. The sites improvements consisted of reconfiguring the roadway, parking areas, and provided new site lighting. The design incorporated future international airport conversion, tenant improvements, and included energy efficient measures to exceed Title 24 requirements.

YEI worked very closely with the lead architect in consolidating all the mechanical and electrical systems in a confined area to minimize the aesthetic impact of the large mechanical equipment on the roof to the building. The design achieved a minimum of 30% energy reduction in comparison to the baseline requirements. This is the first Silver LEED Airport in the USA.
